Susan Soccolich is a Senior Research Associate with the Behavioral Analysis & Applications Group of the Division of Freight, Transit, & Heavy Vehicle Safety at VTTI. As a graduate of the Virginia Tech Department of Statistics, Ms. Soccolich specializes in research and study design, data collection and analysis, and writing and presenting research findings. She has analyzed data from planned driving experiments, naturalistic driving studies, and surveys using descriptive, contingency table, nonparametric, discriminant function, cluster, and linear, logistic, Poisson, and negative binomial regression methods. Ms. Soccolich has contributed her expertise to numerous studies focused on hours-of-service regulations; distraction behaviors in drivers of heavy trucks, buses, and light vehicles; driver fatigue and drowsiness; the prevalence, risk, and treatment of sleep apnea; driver detention; and the impacts of advanced vehicle technologies on driver safety.
